Tips on assembling and mailing your invitations:
Invitations need to be addressed to both members of a married couple. Such as Mr. and Mrs. Juan Garcia.
- If a couple is unmarried and live at the same address. Each name should be written on a separate line.
Example: Ms. Maria Torres
Mr. Juan Garcia
- It’s recommended that no abbreviations or initials be used.
- If children are being invited and not receiving a separate invitation, the children’s names may be written below their parents names or they can be written on the inner envelope if one is being used.
- Assembling and addressing your invitations can take a long time. It's best to ask for help from friends and family. Only ask people who you know will work and not want to play. Assign a specific job to each person who you think can do the best job, but check to make sure they feel comfortable doing that task.
- Organize the each piece in stacks, so it’s easy to pick them up in an assembly line method.
- Organize your guest list in a format that will be easy to use and follow. Either use file cards or a computer print out or whatever idea you feel will work for you and your helpers.
- Before going to the post office it’s recommended you assemble a compete invitation. Bring it with you so it can be weighed for the required postage.
- Ask to the postal clerk to show you the different styles of stamps. You might find there is a stamp that will be a beautiful addition to your invitation.
- Insertions are added on top of the printed side of the invitation. Inside the inner envelope if used or inside the outer envelope. Tissues are optional.
- If you're using response cards a good idea is to lightly mark the back of each card, with a code that will identify the guest, incase they don’t write their name on the response card.
- Before sealing the outer envelope check a few times to make sure the names on the inner envelope matches the name on the outer envelope.
