Making a Difference in Someone's Life: Hearts Without Borders

Mariana's Story

Mariana lives in a small town in Mexico.  She is 14 years old and her wish is to
have her own Quinceanera Celebration when she turns fifteen in January 2009.

Annette Perkins with her husband, Bob and daughter, Robin are the founders of Hearts Without Borders. They made a commitment to help the families who live and work in this town..

Six years ago, before Annette and her family visited this town, Mariana was a sad, lonely little girl. Mariana had only dirty clothes to wear.

After Annette saw Mariana's picture she was touched by the sadness in the little girls eyes. She shared her thoughts and feelings with her husband and daughter. They all felt the same way. They decided there was a need for a new direction and a new purpose in their lives. They committed to help the little girl in the picture and others like her. Annette and her family immediately started the organization Hearts Without Borders.

Maria's Story

Mariana's town is very poor. She lives In a home with 9 other people.
Her father is a Mexican cowboy with a huge heart and loves his family. They
struggle to put food on the table. Her mother works in a factory for only
$65 a week.

Since, the Perkins and the Hearts Without Borders - volunteers, have been helping this family and others in the town, everyone in town now has a smile on their face. They now feel and see hope. They are grateful to Hearts Without Borders.

Quinceanera Connection has committed to give Mariana a gown and tiara for her Quinceanera Celebration in January 2009. We also have committed to give Quinceanera gowns to some other girls living in the same town, whose 15th birthday is coming up soon.

Watch for the pictures and stories about our new friends from Mexico and how
we all can make a difference.
